Queenie Edwards
Violin
Originally from Tampa, FL, Queenie Edwards is a versatile professional violinist, with experience performing works in the classical, contemporary and pop genres. Throughout her career, she has performed and toured in esteemed concert halls throughout North America, Europe and Asia. With a focus in orchestral and chamber music, Queenie has collaborated and played alongside artists like Yo-Yo Ma, Christoph Eschenbach, Philharmonisches Orchester Freiburg, The Chicago Philharmonic, and with local collectives like Deeply Rooted Dance Theater and Crossing Borders Music, among others. She is currently the Associate Concertmistress of Artemis Chamber Orchestra and violinist in Solaria Strings, and in recent years, performed alongside Ed Sheeran at the Chicago Theatre. Queenie has also been a fellow at a number of music festivals including the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany, Round Top Festival Institute, and Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
After returning from Europe, Queenie now works as a development professional specializing in corporate relations and events. An avid volunteer, she is also a member of the Civic Alumni Task Force and serves on the Board of Directors for Sharing Notes, a Chicago-based non-profit that brings joy and comfort to hospital patients with the healing power of music.
Queenie holds performance degrees from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a Masters from the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. Her principal teachers include Grigory Kalinovsky and Sebastian Hamann.
In her downtime, Queenie enjoys training for and running marathons, reading, cooking, exploring local eateries and traveling to the mountains to find fun hiking trails.
